Original Benin Bronze Sculpture

The Benin bronzes are a group of metal plaques and sculptures that decorated the royal palace of the kingdom of Benin

in what is now Nigeria. There are known to be around 1000 pieces, 200 of which are now housed in the British Museum.

These metal pieces were made using lost-wax casting and are considered among the best sculptures using this technique.

This beautiful example is 52cms tall.
